Emergency Preparedness

Generally, the Ministry of Natural Resources has a mandate to:

• prepare an Emergency Response Plan with regard to assigned hazards;
• ensure an early response to a request for emergency advice and assistance from a community;
• when appropriate, respond to a provincial emergency as a result of a declaration made by the Premier (e.g. SARS, Provincial Power Outage).

MNR ensures preparedness through training and annual exercises. Staff training focuses on roles and responsibilities. Exercises are conducted to test response plans and policy.
