Greenlands Challenge Funding Application Package for 2009/2010

The Ministry of Natural Resources Greenlands Challenge

The Ministry of Natural Resources Greenlands Challenge is a program that helps organizations secure privately held lands with significant natural heritage features, with a focus on southern Ontario.

The Greenlands Challenge is a competitive funding program. Ontario organizations such as land trusts, conservation authorities and municipalities are invited to apply to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Funding provided is generally required to be matched by the applicant.

Only direct purchase price costs to secure the lands are eligible for funding through this program. For more information, please review the Guidelines provided.

Through the Greenlands Challenge, the Ministry of Natural Resources helps conserve Ontario's biodiversity and natural heritage. The program is part of the ministry's broader Land Securement Program.

The application window for 2009/10 Greenlands Challenge funding is now closed.

We are in the process of reviewing, evaluating and approving submitted applications. We expect to announce results to all applicants in September 2009.

Note: Projects will only only eligible for funding if a signed Agreement of Purchase and Sale is in place before November 15, 2009, AND the closing date is between January 1, 2009 and March 12, 2010.

Please feel free to contact the Greenlands Challenge at Greenlands@ontario.ca or at 705-755-5123 at any time to discuss the program and how your organization might become involved.
