Even if you don’t have a property, backyard or garden where you can plant a tree, there are lots of ways you can lend a hand and get involved. Challenge friends and families to plant trees.
You can also volunteer in your community to plant trees on public lands, or you can attend ‘green’ events near where you live to support fighting climate change.
Evergreen has a number of resources to help you fight climate change in your community. To participate in a local tree-planting event, look through their Greater Toronto Area Events Schedule or Green Events listings. You can also check out their Project Registry, which includes calls for volunteers and other details about public tree planting projects.
The Ministry of Natural Resources’ Ontario Stewardship program is a community-based volunteer program for individuals who are interested in responsible land care and sustainable resource use. More than 16,000 volunteers participate in Ontario Stewardship projects every year, including natural resource education, shoreline restoration, and forest-related, community-driven initiatives.
