Planting a tree on your property is a great way to:
The best way to ensure your tree will survive and thrive is to choose a species that’s native to where you live. Learn more about native plants by searching Evergreen’s Native Plant Database or The Forest Gene Conservation Association’s lists of Native Species.
You can also go to your local tree nursery or garden centre to choose a tree. Be sure to ask for help in picking the right tree based on tree seed zones, soil, light and water conditions. If possible, buy trees grown from local stock.
You may also want to check with your municipality. Some cities and towns have tree planting programs on residential streets.
