The Stand Ecology Program evaluates the differences in ecosystem structure and function in harvested and naturally disturbed forests; primarily black spruce and jack pine dominated ecosites. Our present work focuses on understanding the:
- changes to the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil
- vegetation development and productivity levels
- drivers (processes) causing these changes or development patterns
Further program details can be found in the Stand Ecology brochure (pdf - 141kb).
