Research Team

  • Dave Morris, Research Scientist
  • Robert Whaley, Senior Technician
  • Laura Edgington, Research Technician
  • Martin Kwiaton, Project Forester
  • Alissa Makela, Research Technician

The Stand Ecology Program evaluates the differences in ecosystem structure and function in harvested and naturally disturbed forests; primarily black spruce and jack pine dominated ecosites. Our present work focuses on understanding the:

  1. changes to the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil
  2. vegetation development and productivity levels
  3. drivers (processes) causing these changes or development patterns

Further program details can be found in the Stand Ecology brochure (pdf - 141kb).
