In Your Community

Contribute to the Ontario Biodiversity Strategy (OBS) Actions. Work is ongoing on many of the action items. If you belong to organizations that should be involved but aren't, contact the group to encourage involvement. Find an involved organization and join! You can start with the organizations currently represented on the Ontario Biodiversity Council.

Contribute to local habitat protection or restoration projects. Keep in touch with local issues and local groups and contribute where you can. Contact your local Stewardship Council for activities in your area. In addition, seniors groups can create habitat through the Golden Gardens program. Any group can benefit from the guidelines and support available through Communities for Wildlife.

Help monitor Ontario's biodiversity. Citizen Science, the monitoring and assessment of species and ecosystems by individuals and groups, is growing across the province. Learn more and make a difference! A great place to start is http://dev.stewardshipcanada.ca/communities/citizenScience/home/csnIndex.asp?lang=en.

Look beyond your community to work and learn through the Volunteer for Nature Program.
