The Ministry’s Aviation and Forest Fire Management (AFFM) forest fire, turbo beaver, fire management headquartersprogram coordinates forest fire detection, monitoring, suppression and public information and education services for Ontario.

 

AFFM also provides aviation services for the Ontario government and leads emergency management planning and response for natural hazards such as forest fires, floods, erosion, dam failures, unstable soils and bedrock, droughts and oil and gas emergencies. 

 

 

 

 

Aviation and Forest Fire Management Services Include:

 

  • personnel and resources necessary for managing forest fires
  • fire prevention and detection
  • policy development and strategies
  • aviation administration
  • flight and maintenance crews and equipment to support forest fire management
  • specialized aviation services, including non-scheduled air transport for all government ministries and agencies
  • co-ordination of emergency response planning
