Ontario's compliment of approximately 200 Type I Fire Crews is sufficient to handle a normal fire load across the province. As the fire situation escalates it often becomes necessary to acquire additional fire crews to help handle the fire load. Type II fire crews are often assigned to sustained action and mop-up operations in a effort to free up Type I crews for initial attack.
The type 2 contract has be awarded for the next 3 fire seasons (2013, 2014 and 2015) to the following fire crew service providers:
