To ensure firefighters are properly prepared, national exchange standards have been developed that identify what training a firefighter needs to have to be eligible for an assignment in another province or territory.
- Every year firefighters are required to continuously hone their skills through on-going proficiency training, refresher training and testing.

What are the minimum requirements to become a FireRanger?
Anyone fighting fires in Ontario must, as a minimum, have successfully completed the 40 hour SP-100 Firefighter course, have a valid first aid certificate and pass the physical fitness test.
