Fire favours the existence of pioneer communities, particularly those species with specific adaptation to disturbance by fire i.e. jack pine and trembling aspen, pin cherry, blueberry, fireweed.
What are the 3 main factors that are necessary in determining fire behaviour?
Fire behaviour can be very complex but can be determined by considering 3 factors. These factors include fuels, weather and topography. Considering with these 3 inputs, it is possible for fire specialists to predict with a high degree of accuracy, where a fire will occur, the direction it will burn to, the intensity or heat output produced and the fire's rate of spread.
