After five years as an Ontario FireRanger, my journey ends. Some Rangers are in the fire program for only a few seasons, while others are in it for a lifetime. Every time

I hear the sound of a helicopter or smell wood smoke I feel the bittersweet tug at my soul which brings a smile to my face. Once bitten by the firebug you never forget the sense of family that working on a fire crew can bring or the friendships and the memories of good times and occasionally hellish times spent on the fire line. Ontario’s FireRangers come from many walks of life and it is these individuals that make the difference on the ground and in communities around Ontario.
