  • There were 16 fires actioned across Ontario yesterday bringing the season total to 241.

Current Situation:

 

New Fires

 

There were 16 new fires actioned yesterday.  The fires occurred in the Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Thunder Bay, Dryden and Greenstone areas.   Air attack was required to support ground crews on most fires.  All fires have been contained except for Thunder Bay 43, currently 0.5 ha in size and burning in storm damaged fuels.  Fire crews are currently working this fire which is in Wabakimi Park, south of Whitewater Lake.

 

Ongoing Fires

 
Fires are exhibiting an increase in behaviour and depth of burn.

 

Preparedness Planning:

 

Fire

Holdover lightning fires will continue to occur today.  Crew commitment to new fires may increase as fuels continue to dry and fire indices rise.
