There were 16 new fires actioned yesterday. The fires occurred in the Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Thunder Bay, Dryden and Greenstone areas. Air attack was required to support ground crews on most fires. All fires have been contained except for Thunder Bay 43, currently 0.5 ha in size and burning in storm damaged fuels. Fire crews are currently working this fire which is in Wabakimi Park, south of Whitewater Lake.
Fires are exhibiting an increase in behaviour and depth of burn.
Holdover lightning fires will continue to occur today. Crew commitment to new fires may increase as fuels continue to dry and fire indices rise.
No issues.
