Minister Donna Cansfield presented a Deputy Conservation Officer (DCO) badge to Ryan Tom at the Ministry of Natural Resources Thunder Bay District office on October 24. Tom’s DCO training was supported by a partnership with the MNR and Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotwangag Resource Council. He is working as an Intern with the Enforcement Section in the Kenora District.
“I’m really thrilled,” said Minister Cansfield as she presented Tom with his new badge. “How very pleased I am to see this happen.”
Tom officially began work the same day he received his badge and will serve as an Intern for one year. Minister Cansfield read the appointment declaration aloud which Tom then signed. Tom completed training in Orillia. Kenora Enforcement Supervisor, Joan Hubay, Deputy Minister Lindsay and Grand Chief Diane Kelly, Grand Council Treaty #3, as well as members of Tom’s family and his colleagues, were also on hand for the ceremony.
